Provides long-lasting control of horn flies and ticks in beef and dairy cattle, including calves and lactating dairy cows. Featuring a unique slow-release formulation, XP 820 was the first cattle ear tag to contain abamectin, a highly active macrocyclic lactone insecticide that offers a different mode of action than many traditional ear tag products.
Controls horn flies and Gulf Coast ticks while aiding in the control of spinose ear ticks, American dog ticks, cattle fever ticks, and Lone Star ticks, and helps reduce face fly populations.
The patented formulation combines abamectin with piperonyl butoxide (PBO), a synergist that enhances insect control performance. This combination is particularly effective against horn flies, including populations that have developed resistance to synthetic pyrethroid and organophosphate insecticides.
XP 820 delivers extended protection throughout the fly season. One tag per animal provides horn fly control for up to three months, while two tags per animal can provide control for up to five months. In addition to horn flies, XP 820 controls Gulf Coast ticks and aids in the control of spinose ear ticks, American dog ticks, cattle fever ticks, and Lone Star ticks. It also helps reduce face fly populations.
As part of a comprehensive fly control program, XP 820 is an excellent rotation option for resistance management due to its unique chemistry. Its proven Y-TEX Snap-Lok® collar and two-piece tag design help ensure reliable tag retention throughout the treatment period.
By reducing fly pressure and tick infestations, XP 820 helps improve cattle comfort, support normal grazing behavior, and promote overall herd well-being during peak insect seasons.
